Ambassador Committee

Statement of Purpose

The mission of the Chamber Ambassadors is to promote the role of the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce in the community by welcoming new members, encouraging current members to maximize their membership and aid in maintaining/increasing the retention rate of new and existing members through reinforcing the Chamber benefits. Ambassadors create a positive image for the Chamber by acting as liaisons between members and the Chamber Staff.

Ambassador Commitment

The Ambassador Committee is composed of 15-30 active member volunteers who donate 3-5 hours per month toward various Chamber activities. Ambassadors are strongly encouraged to attend 4 out of 6 bi-monthly meetings. Ideally this will be a 2 year commitment. Committee members should be of excellent character, personality, and possess leadership abilities. They must be dedicated to the goals of the Chamber and willing to provide the time and effort necessary to achieve those goals.

Role

  • Wear Ambassador identification to all Chamber functions
  • Attend Ambassador Committee meetings
  • Deliver new member packets, take member photo and review orientation info with member
  • Attend ribbon cuttings to welcome new Chamber members
  • Participate in designated events (BAH, Golf Scramble, etc) acting primarily as hosts for new members but also assisting with registration or other duties as necessary
  • Assist with Member Retention Program throughout the year
    • At the monthly meeting, Ambassadors will be assigned 3-5 existing members to call quarterly and/or make a good will visits. These interactions are intended to be a personal communication from a Chamber volunteer to let them know their membership is valued, to see if there are any issues the member may have and review upcoming Chamber events, such as Business After Hours, educational events or other networking opportunities.
  • Participate in GBCOC membership drives as scheduled
  • Provide feedback to Chamber Chairperson or Account Executive from members/non-members regarding all interactions from above
