Interviewing for a job takes practice, and students who have a chance to practice in a safe environment will be better prepared for the real world. Practicing with a parent, friend, or teacher is good, but doesn't offer the seriousness and nervousness of practicing with a stranger.
Franklin Initiative volunteers are working professionals with experience in hiring and interviewing. They introduce a level of realism that produces adrenaline, yet still maintain a supportive environment focused on skill development. Students bring resumes and cover letters. After the interview is over, volunteers are available to debrief with the student to talk about what went right and where they can improve.
